Forklift Service Technician

Job Locations US-VA-Sterling
Regular Full-Time


Diagnose and repair Toyota equipment, performing regular service, maintenance, and repair. This involves working with hydraulic systems while following a scheduled maintenance plan for all machines, troubleshoot issues as they occur, and maintaining an inventory of spare parts. Aside from direct repair work, responsible for maintaining a battery charging area, oil change, and safety protocols.  The successful Forklift Technician / Mechanic will efficiently perform quality repairs on lift trucks and other industrial equipment while performing repairs and assignments in a safe and proficient manner.


  • Maintain and repair Toyota sit-down forklifts.
  • Maintain and repair conveyor systems, and truck lift systems.
  • Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to open new work orders and check work history.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  • Maintain parts inventory and repair records.
  • Maintain building-powered equipment and automation.
  • Always work safely – exercising use of proper protective equipment and safe operations protocols.
  • Work safely with high and low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Maintain adequate and accurate parts inventory assigned.
  • Perform service jobs on time and efficiently to avoid down time.
  • Take direction from the shop maintenance leader and senior mechanics as required.
  • Obtain parts and technical information needed to repair equipment.
  • Accurately complete tablet work such as work orders, timecards, support information, etc.
  • Operate lift trucks and equipment as required – or provide instruction to users as needed.
  • Read and comprehend technical manuals.
  • Use proper test equipment for troubleshooting.
  • Treat all internal and external customers with Care and Respect.
  • Accurately communicate appropriate information to those who need to know on a timely basis.
  • Maintain acceptable personal and work area standards for safety, appearance, and equipment condition.
  • Communicate positively and courteously with our customers.
  • Maintain responsible use of hand tools and other company-issued equipment as required.
  • Continue training thru company-sponsored and external programs.
  • TLM “’Toyota Lean Management” philosophy.
  • Maintain a positive can-do attitude.


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ mechanic experience.
  • Experience maintaining Toyota warehouse equipment a must
  • Programmable logic controller (PLC) experience preferred
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and proactive maintenance protocols
  • Tech School certification a plus
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
  • Forklift certification required
  • Proficient with Computer/Tablet skills.
